While there is still like a week left before school resume, I shall and will update this blog cos I have this great feeling that once T.A starts, I will not be able to update my blog regularly.
And so, I couldn't sleep last night. Tossing around the bed since 12 am didn't do any good. Neither was the surfing in the wee hours of the morning help. In the end, after almost 3 hours of tossing ard, I finally decided to watch the Nederlands match LIVE on channel 30 for the first time in Euro 2008. It was a great match! And I am so sure that the Dutch are so going to win the cup! C'mon, they have beaten 2 World Cup'06 finalists! Italy went down 3-0 in the Group C opening match while yesterday, the 2006 losing finalists lost 4-1 to the Dutch. Even when van der Sar let in a goal, his team mates quickly gave a stunning reply in the next minute!! Though I hate Arjen Robben for his dirty tricks at times, but yesterday, he was superbly amazing. And of course another man on the pitch who didn't disappoint me was Rafael van der Vaart. His corner kick gave Dirk Kuyt that winning header. So what if van der Vaart have married the most beautiful woman in the Nederlands? He still let his feet do the talking! And for that, he rocks my socks!
On the other note, Singapore lost 2-0 to Saudi Arabia a while ago. As a result, they bowed out of the World Cup qualifiers. Kudos to them for reaching this far; I know many Singaporeans couldn't believe that they have managed to go this far. Perhaps, they thought it was luck. Yeah right! Raddy has proven that he's a coach that one can't trifle with. Well, there's always another time to play in the World Cup. Perhaps, when every player in the team is not born and bred in Singapore. You get what I mean.
But seriously, the Singaporean boys are not lacking the talents, honestly. Just look, Sharil Ishak, Ridhuan Mohd, Khairul Amri and Fazrul Nawaz to name a few. There were in fact a few others during those days of the Lion City Cup in the 90's. Schools in the southern part of Singapore were producing top quality players who went on to train in Manchester United during their teens. But sadly, the reality in Singapore is... no qualifications, you can't go far. Life as a footballer is short. So many of these footballers, have to give up their passion for something realistic.
Just because other country are adopting foreign talents, we have to follow suit. Foreign talents may be an advantage for us to wake up and improve. But too many foreign talents will result in losing our own talents!
Anyway, I have nothing against foreign talents. I am not threatened by their presence. But, we got to do something about it before its too late!
