Lately, I guess I could suffer from a heart attack easily. The Champions League and the EPL's title decider was so intense that I could feel my heart beat faster and faster as the game went on. But it is this kind of shiok feelings when you watch a soccer match, is what I've always enjoyed and will continue to enjoy!
And so, the EPL title went to the rightfully team, Manchester United. Speaking like a true smug United's fan, the title should rightfully be United's! I guess, United have done much to really really deserved the title. And, United is no longer as smug as they used to be. Sometimes they were lucky to get away with bias decisions made by the referees, but how about the time when their luck ran out and they lost a game? I am just wondering why no one thought about that?
Everyone was striking United's off as potential champions at the start of the season when all they could do was a 1-1 draw against Reading in the opening game and registered a couple of 1-0 wins. At one point in time, United was even at the bottom end of the table! I could hear evil laughters and the Gunners' fans celebrating like as if the title was theirs for take.
A few things, that all these people have forgotten are.... firstly, the season is almost 9 months long. A typical top EPL team will be involved in at least 4 different tournaments. An EPL season alone comprises of 38 matches, home and away inclusive of the other games in between. And if you don't know Europe, just a gentle reminder that home and away game isnt about travelling from Bedok to Farrer Park or anything of that sort. Sometimes, they have to take a plane. Yes, a PLANE as in A-E-R-O-P-L-A-N-E!
Secondly, a typical life of a footballer revolves around injuries and match fitness. And so, a manager have to be optimist and ever ready to have a player ready to come in when the need arises. That is where, Sir Alex who have plenty of experience knows exactly what he have to do. When everyone was putting his team down, like a master of his own class, he designed a winning combination to bring back the EPL title back to Old Trafford.
The turning point, if you remember was the 4-0 victory over Wigan at Old Trafford. And, it was also against Wigan that the title was decided. So much of Avram Grant's comment on saying that the title shouldn't be decided on goal difference. Rather, a playoff. Let's applaud Grant for his confidence. But at the end of the day, the title was decided not on goal difference BUT point difference. At the end of the day, when United won their last game, Chelsea drew their last game.
So another game awaits United in Moscow. I am sure United will tell Chelsea who's the best after all. Nothing beats the Champions League title and Sir Alex is hungry for that one. Let's all stand by United and cheer them on as they complete their double!
The game of football is as simple as A-B-C. If you don't score, you don't win!
