I am fighting hard to survive.. The flu is back again, what's with the unpredictable weather and the lack of sleep.
Yesterday, I tried to do my lesson plan but was yawning non-stop. In the end, I confidently gave up doing my lesson plan and try to sleep. But, when I tried to sleep.. the eyes and the brain cells just do not coincides. The eyes were shut but the brain was actively working. I was trying so hard to sleep because of the BIG game in the CL semis. It reads Manchester United vs AC Milan.
Somehow, I managed to sleep around 8.30 pm but was awake again at 10 pm, all the way till 5 am this morning. I tried to sleep again till 7.30 am before I get ready for work. See, that's the luxury for having your workplace close to home.
Anws, the point is this, I have been trying hard to write a decent post since yesterday but it just did not happen for some reason or another. And, while I was waiting for 2 am to strike this morning, I tuned in to Ria 89.7FM 's ghost stories. It gets creepy especially at that time when everything is so dark and quiet and when you're all alone.. But I survived.
I have always wanted to say this, since the day I knew United is playing Milan for the CL semis, I have this hunch that United will make it. Despite reports favouring AC Milan to triumph at Old Trafford. But, for once this season, I have my doubts after seeing the injury list gets longer. Still, I had faith on my team.
When I saw the starting line up, I felt nothing. I knew there was hope for United. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that goal entering AC Milan's goal! From a Giggs' corner to a Ronaldo's header to Dida's save and to Heinze's seemingly heading the ball but I still think it was Dida's own goal.
It seems like a fairytale start for us.. But suddenly, our makeshift defence began to show signs of crumbling. Crumbled it did! Kaka scored twice in between 5 minutes! urgh..!
Two away goals advantage for AC Milan! My heart began to thump.. it thump harder when the final minutes of the first half began to draw nearer. I've for that moment lost faith in my team not because they are on the losing end but rather, I was disappointed with their performance! There were no sense of urgency and looking at Ronaldo, he seemed as if he had given up!
But, I still believed in miracles and miracles do happen when you believe in them. As the game approached the second half, I saw United trying to fight on. Perhaps, Sir Alex have given them a really convincing wake up call during the break. When Rooney equalise, I saw hope. If anyone noticed, there was hardly any chance for van der sar to do any saves during the second half except once or twice.
As the final minutes approach, Giggsy was playing like a man possessed. He took several free kicks which seems to get nearer and nearer but the most importantly is, the hunch that a 3rd goal for United is coming was really strong. And how true it was when Rooney scored the winner a minute into injury time.
Lady Luck once again woke up from her deep slumber. Perhaps it gets too comfy for her as it was a wet night in Manchester. As the clock ticks, she woke up just in time to bestow some luck for the Red Devils so as to join them in the celebrations!
So... will United make it to the Finals?? Yes, I say.. Yes, I've said. Yes, I am going to say it again! Yes, DEFINITELY they'll be. Next week, they are going to San Siro not to defend their 3-2 scoreline but to attack and proceed on to th Finals. Till then, Everton will be our next target as we fight on to get back the EPL title on course to our future historical Treble season!
