Hahahahahahha.... what I have said came true, what I hope came true and best of all the premonition I had came true! 7-1 win for United! 7 goals scored in a single match? In a Champions League game? Against a team they lost 2-1 in Rome a week ago? They made AS Roma looked like ordinary
men boys playing their weekends soccer. Hahahahaha...
After a week of disappointing results, finally United showed a convincing victory!
I was right about the starting line-up only thing that I was wrong, Alan Smith was in the first 11. The gaffer didn't agree with me. He insisted that Smith should be drafted in though he lacks match fitness and Solskjaer would remain as the super sub. Fair enough, I am still learning in the trade and the gaffer have more experience than I do. He was already a gaffer on the year I was born. Hehe..
I snoozed for 5 minutes before the game. But my mind was working and thinking hard. I blamed myself for the Portsmouth win against United. Why? Cos I got the timing wrong! But it wasn't my fault ok? I finally realised that the timings that I got was wrong and my calculation was right. Even for today's match, the timing was stated at 1945 hrs which means 3.45 am local time but then the game started at 2.45 am! Luckily, I checked the TV timing on ESPN. Or else, I'll have missed the entertaining game.
I was playing with numbers on my head while I snooze. During the Pompey's match, I have the timing as 1.30 am but the actual game started at 12.10 am. Hence, the result was 2-1 to Pompey. 2+1=3 and United scored a goal. And today's match was at 2.45 am but I have it as 3.45 am. Being the first leg result is 2-1, 2+1=3 and today's goal scored should be a high one if you were to add 4+5 or having a total goal of 4 or 5.. Ok, I am thinking too much.
Though, I didn't expect such a high scoring match, nonetheless, my belief was United is going thru to the semis no matter what it takes. Fortunately, they did.
It was as if, Lady Luck has finally woken up from her slumber and granted almost her players with the scoring boots. Giggsy was extremely brilliant today. He made me remembered once again why he was the player that I still idolise till today. Edwin van der Sar has finally adapt to his makeshift defence but can improve futher. But did you guys see what Ferdinand did? He backpassed the ball exactly the same way he did during the game against Pompey! It was a case of once biten twice shy for van der Sar. Phew..
Today we also saw that finally the millions of pound paid for Carrick's services is reaping its reward. 2 goals from him but more will be expected from him though. 2 goals for Ronaldo. A goal by Rooney, Smith and Evra. Isn't it s good news? Even the defender is scoring and the great thing about it is that he's just back from an injury.
Anws, to cut the story short... even without Scholes, the team can win convincingly. His return in the semis stage will definitely be welcome because he's a talented player but he got to be cautious in order to avoid getting booked. Cos, as we progress further, every players count especially with the mounting casualties in the dressing room.
Finally, I guess I got to start commenting about all future matches till the season ends. Superstitious or not, I noticed that whenever I comment about United's play, they will produced good results. For the sake of the Treble, I will do it. We shall see how it goes.. Hehe.. FA Cup semi finals this weekend against Watford at Villa Park. Watford beat Pompey during the midweek EPL match. Haha.. who says that when you beat United you are great? Look at Arsenal, so what if they have beaten United? Are they in the Champs League? I won't get snobbish here but what I am trying to say is this, do not be fool by the result. Sometimes its just fluke. Sometimes its really a team effort but sometimes, the opponent is just having an off day. Whatever the reason, United will progress thru hard fight this weekend. Two reasons, they have a good hunting ground at Villa Park. Secondly, they would very much wants to play and be the first to win the Cup at Wembley. May I add the 3rd reason? After progressing thru 2 replays in the previous rounds, they do deserve to be in the Finals! Agree??
